The rules

These are the rules for the Weesper European Magic Championships. They are based on the rules of the Bossche Wereldkampioenschappen.

  • It is a casual tournament. We play for fun and we play Magic the Gathering: Commander, not Solitaire. Infinite combos will be punished with disqualification.
  • The tournament consists of 6 rounds. Each round lasts a maximum of one hour.
  • In each round, tables are played with 4 players each. This way we can play a lot within the hour. Aggressive decks are rewarded in this tournament.
  • Each player is randomly assigned a number. Your number determines the starting position in the pools.
  • Within the hour to be played, players can earn points. See the points distribution below.
  • Before the start of the round, the highest roll of a die determines who may start.
  • A round is over when all players have had their turn.
  • Mulligan House Rule: the first Mulligan is free by replacing the desired cards from your hand by putting them at the bottom and drawing the same amount from the top of your library.
  • Each subsequent Mulligan is done by shuffling all your cards into your deck and drawing one less card than before.
  • We use the app playgroup.gg to keep track of the scores. The statistics will be shared later.
  • The tournament is set up so that almost everyone plays against as many different people. You might face some players twice.
  • The price of a deck is determined upon submission and must be under 50 euros (www.moxfield.com) to ensure some equality. The cheapest version of the card counts.
  • After everyone has submitted their deck, no changes may be made. Until then, you are free to completely adjust your deck.
  • Each commander can only participate once per tournament. Your commander is reserved when you submit your deck. (note, you can still change it until ALL decks are submitted)
  • At the end of the day, a winner will also be determined for the most original deck.
